“I’m off to a date with Donnie!” Jen would joke to her roommates. In reality, she was just headed to work on a group project for their marketing class at Bloomsburg University. Donnie wasn’t single, but Jen had a huge crush and a girl can dream, right? She sure could, because after a year of group projects together and one summer break, Donnie returned for the fall semester as a single man. And when he ran into Jen at a bar their first weekend back at school, Donnie wasted no time in asking the beautiful girl from his marketing class on an official date.
Fast forward a few years, and Jen was dreaming again. She and Donnie had made some pretty big life changes together, not the least of which being a huge move to a new city that had become their home, Boston, and adopting their sweet fur child, Tomlin. Jen loved their life together, and had a sneaking suspicion that Donnie was about to propose that they do this adventure together forever. Her suspicions became more and more confirmed as Donnie took her on a date all around Boston, treating Jen to dinner at a fancy French restaurant, buying her a beautiful necklace as they walked through the city filled with Christmas lights, sharing hot chocolate in Boston Public Garden where they sat on a bench, taking in the view of the city’s Christmas tree. Jen was certain that Donnie was about to pop the question, but all he proposed was that they call an Uber and go home. A little disappointed, Jen agreed. What she didn’t know was that when they arrived home to their adorable pup and the living room that was home to so many of their favorite memories, Donnie would put on some Frank Sinatra, take her hand, tell her how much he loved her, and ask her to be his wife.
Though they’ve since moved back to Pennsylvania, Jen and Donnie agree that Boston was where they found who they were together, and I so I was thrilled to get to capture snippets of their Beantown life last fall before that sweet chapter came to a close. We explored bits of their Southie neighborhood, a few of the charming streets of Charlestown, and drove out to Nahant Beach to capture sunset on those quintessentially New England rocky shorelines. From their first email to me in December 2015 (how was it so long ago?!), to today, just two days before their wedding, it’s been such a joy to get to befriend this pair, and now I’m so excited to introduce them to you!
