Have you ever seen a human being glow?
Light up. Turn on. Become more of themselves than they were just the moment before?
When Zay is near to Abby, there’s just no other word for it. He glows.
Zay is a quiet man by nature, but with Abby by his side, shyness fades into a subtle yet sincere glint in his eye, a secret that standing next to her, together, they could do anything. Abby’s laughter with Zay is constant and her joy is palpable. It seems impossible to think that five years ago, their spark was almost doused when Abby, about to leave for a semester to study abroad, was unsure of Zay’s feelings. But the quiet boy knew what he risked by letting her leave without sharing how he felt, and so he found his courage, discovered that she felt just the same as he did, and their relationship began on separate continents. As it turns out, their first few months apart would just become practice for their engagement four years later, as Abby followed her dream of becoming a police officer in Virginia and Zay pursued his heart for ministry in Pittsburgh before moving to finally be right by his love’s side after their wedding this past September.
So, when Zay made a trip down from Pittsburgh last winter, we made time to venture out to the beautiful DC Wharf on the southwest waterfront. The air was frigid, but the light was golden and the people? Well, their hearts were glowing. And though it’s long past the time that I SHOULD be sharing this gorgeous session (did I mention these two already tied the knot a few months ago??), I couldn’t keep these two and their joy to myself any longer.
